Travel tax in Japan rises for tourists visiting Japan this fall – Ticket prices at Kyoto’s four major attractions also go up

Japan – It has been confirmed that the consumption tax for travelers to Japan will be increased from the original 8% to 10% starting October 1. Along with the tax hike announcement, many popular tourist attractions in Kyoto have also adjusted their ticket prices, meaning your travel budget to Japan will increase.

Kyoto Tower, an iconic landmark in Kyoto, is a must-visit destination for many tourists. Recently, the tower announced that its admission fee will be raised to 800 yen starting September 30.

Nijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kyoto, is a significant tourist attraction known for its classic historical architecture and cultural treasures. Starting October, the castle’s entrance fee will be increased from 1,000 yen to 1,030 yen.

Toei Uzumasa Eigamura, a movie-themed amusement park in Kyoto that has served as the filming location for numerous Japanese dramas and movies, has also announced that its ticket price will be adjusted from 2,200 yen to 2,400 yen.

The popular Kyoto City Zoo has also seen a slight ticket price increase of 20 yen. Although Japan has measures such as tax-free thresholds and refund policies, the continuous rise in ticket prices and other fees at attractions will inevitably affect travelers’ budgets for visiting Japan.
