Not just Eslite in Nihonbashi!* Six must-visit new spots in Tokyo

Every year, Tokyo welcomes remarkable new architectural landmarks such as buildings, malls, and office towers. From 2003’s Roppongi Hills, 2006’s Omotesando Hills, 2007’s Roppongi Midtown, 2012’s Tokyo Skytree and Shibuya Hikarie, 2014’s Toranomon Hills, 2016’s TOKYU PLAZA GINZA, 2017’s GINZA SIX, and more — all are iconic must-visit spots in Tokyo.

Since 2018–2019, numerous distinctive new malls and buildings have also emerged. Here are some standout new attractions:
 
1.Tokyo Midtown Hibiya TOKYO MIDTOWN HIBIYA
 
Situated next to Hibiya Park, TOKYO MIDTOWN HIBIYA features landscape design inspired by the human presence in the park, creating an atmosphere where city and park blend seamlessly. Floors B1 to 7 house a mall with a rich selection of shops, restaurants, bars, cafés, and a cinema — definitely worth a visit.

2.ShibuyaShibuya Stream
 
Located south of Shibuya, Shibuya Stream is a new trendy landmark in the area. It’s not only a mixed-use commercial and office building but also houses a hotel, restaurants, event spaces, and a sports center. Most notably, it has collaborated to revitalize the Shibuya River, which gave the district its name, transforming it into a highly popular photo spot.
 
Additionally, the former PARCO in Shibuya reopened in autumn 2019 after renovation, and Shibuya East Yokohama PLAZA has also made a fresh comeback following its makeover.

3.Tokyo Kinshicho Kinshicho PARCO
 
Kinshicho PARCO, located within the Laox complex, is one of Japan’s most renowned shopping malls. With retail offerings spanning from fashion to daily essentials across floors 1 to 7 and a comprehensive range of brands, it’s a great place to explore. Its proximity to the Tokyo Skytree has also made it a new tourist hotspot for travelers.

4.Ikebukuro Q Plaza Ikebukuro
 
Q Plaza Ikebukuro, which opened on July 19, is Ikebukuro’s newest shopping mall. Spanning from B1 to 14 floors, it combines retail, dining, and a variety of entertainment options. Its cinema is said to be the largest in Japan, and on the 14th floor, there's Japan’s tallest batting cage — a must-see for travelers visiting Tokyo.
