The hidden “Shuanglong Waterfall” in Xinyi Township, Nantou, has seen the construction of Taiwan’s longest suspension bridge, “Shuanglong Suspension Bridge,” next to the original Shuiyuan Bridge, thanks to efforts by Nantou County. This allows the public to closely admire the beautiful scenery and the mystical Shuanglong Waterfall.

Shuanglong Waterfall is located in a steep mountain cliff at an altitude of 800 meters, gushing directly from the mountaintop and splitting into an upper and lower fall, as if two dragons were soaring through the sky—hence the origin of its name. The waterfall is about 100 meters high, with thunderous roaring water sounds and misty spray, making it an extremely spectacular sight.

Construction workers are speeding up the process, hoping to complete the project by the end of the year.
However, because tourists often forcibly enter the original Shuiyuan Bridge, which was designated for transporting drinking water and only accessible to maintenance personnel, most people had no chance to get close. Therefore, the county decided to create a beautiful pathway for travelers to sightsee and enjoy the scenery.

The bridge deck has also been meticulously designed in a colorful palette.
The Shuanglong Seven-Colored Suspension Bridge is 342 meters long and 110 meters deep, with a bridge deck consisting of 420 steps and a rainbow-colored surface, making the bridge look like a beautiful rainbow spanning across the valley. Upon completion, it will become Taiwan’s longest and deepest suspension bridge, and is scheduled to officially open during the 2020 New Year holiday.

By then, both ends of Shuanglong Waterfall will be developed into scenic viewing platforms, visitor numbers on the bridge will be managed, and vehicles will be scheduled to park at Shuanglong Bridge before shuttle buses transport visitors to Shuanglong Tribe, allowing travelers to easily access the bridge, enjoy the view, and experience the beauty of Taiwan’s nature.
