Tropical Depression TD26 (1002 hPa) may develop into a mild typhoon (if it forms, it will be named Neoguri). Its center is located at 19.5°N, 129.5°E, moving west-northwest at a speed of 10 km/h. The central pressure is 1002 hPa, with maximum sustained winds near the center at 15 m/s and maximum gusts at 23 m/s.

The probability of this tropical depression developing into a typhoon is quite high. It has also been placed under a "strong wind warning" by Japan, which was just hit by Typhoon Hagibis. Although it is not yet certain whether it will become a typhoon, it is very likely to affect the weather in Taiwan’s Hualien and Taitung regions this weekend, bringing increased moisture.
On Friday, the 18th, affected by the northeastern monsoon, temperatures will be slightly cooler in the morning and evening across the country. There will be a large day-night temperature difference in central and southern Taiwan. Northern and eastern parts of the country will see scattered brief showers, while other areas, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will be mostly cloudy to sunny, with localized brief showers in the mountainous areas of central and southern Taiwan in the afternoon. Strong gusts of 8 to 9 on the Beaufort scale are likely in areas north of Tainan, the eastern part of the country (including Orchid Island and Green Island), the coastal and open areas of the Hengchun Peninsula, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, with higher waves along the coast.
