While most temples in Taiwan usually have red walls and yellow roofs, the "BaoHu Palace Tiandi Hall Earth Mother Temple" in Puli, Nantou stands out with its distinctive green-tiled rooftops. The unique color scheme leaves a deep impression. With flourishing incense offerings and breathtaking views from its mountainside location, it also attracts many photography enthusiasts.

Situated on Jinying Mountain at an altitude of about 550 meters, the temple can be viewed from above, where its exquisitely carved details embedded in the rocky walls resemble those of an ancient imperial palace. Every corridor, stone gate, and spirit pool makes visitors feel as though they are walking through a royal garden, with its majestic and imposing atmosphere resembling the set of a period drama, such as the popular Chinese series "The Untamed."

The Earth Mother Temple primarily worships the "Earth Mother Supreme," one of the Four Sovereigns in Taoism, who governs the earth and mountains. She is regarded alongside the Jade Emperor, who rules the heavens. The faith stems from reverence for the land and nature. On the 18th day of the 10th lunar month, the Earth Mother’s birthday, the temple holds a grand ceremony. It serves not only as a key place of faith for locals but is also a highly significant Taoist temple in Taiwan.

Aside from its blue-tiled grandeur and sweeping views over the Puli Basin, the Eight Trigrams Nine-Dragon Pond in front of the temple is also very famous. It is believed to nurture the spiritual energy of the temple, designed in the pattern of the Early Heaven Eight Trigrams. Legend has it that bathing in the Nine-Dragon Pond can cure illnesses, ward off disasters, and bring blessings. It attracts many visitors, but the pond is only open on the "Xu" days of the lunar calendar, and entry requires successfully casting three sacred lots in a row.
