Nostalgic Veterans' Village Light Sea for Stunning Photoshoots: Milk Can Lantern Flowers Shine with "Mouse Glow"

The Pingtung Victory Star Village Light Festival this year continues the momentum of last year’s Pingtung Lantern Festival. On the evening of January 18, it kicked off the lighting ceremony with a Mandarin Oldies Night, using the most nostalgic “veterans’ village-style” light art to take everyone on a time-travel journey, recreating childhood games of hide-and-seek in the alleys of Japanese-style military dependents' villages, together “shining with mouse glow,” from pre-New Year shopping to guessing lantern riddles during the Lantern Festival.

The alleys and corners of Victory Star Village have gradually been decorated with various light installations themed around symbols of festive joy and nostalgic veterans’ villages. Recent test lightings have drawn passersby to stop and snap photos.

This year’s Victory Star Village Light Festival, themed “Shine with Mouse Glow,” aims to let visitors experience traditional New Year vibes that fade with age, through light art and richly festive activities in Victory Star Village. The county government has specially designed many “Mouse Falls in Love with Cat” light decoration segments in the alleys for the Year of the Rat, featuring heartwarming, fun, and story-filled light installations paired with a series of activities.

Additionally, the county government collaborated with students from Hesheng Elementary School and Victory Elementary School to paint 200 sets of “milk can lanterns” that evoke vivid childhood memories, creating a festive atmosphere of homes adorned with lanterns and evoking nostalgia for childhood Lantern Festivals. It's full of childlike charm.

Also not to be missed are the “Flower Grace & Delicate Feathers” perfect for Instagram-worthy photo ops, and the “Flower Spirits” dancing in the breeze in the veterans’ village courtyards. Of course, you shouldn’t miss the two large-scale artistic installations specially designed for this festival by the county government, including the “Star Village Gifts” that package veterans’ village memorabilia and local finds as festive gifts, and the “Village Memories” that recreate old hometown New Year scenes, allowing visitors to relive the New Year spirit of the veterans’ villages from their memories.
