Every year, the Tropical Agriculture Expo is highly anticipated and draws much attention. In 2020, it opened with great fanfare on January 18. In partnership with Uni-President, it has created 26 eye-catching highlight zones including a 3D colorful painted rice field, a spring flower sea, a dreamy colorful melon corridor, an aquatic products pavilion, a fruit wonderland, and a pet-friendly area.

This year’s rice paddy art is a collaboration with Uni-President, featuring the super-popular OPEN family characters on Pingtung’s rice fields, using rice varieties developed by the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute to create a charming agricultural theme park.

The Tropical Expo not only showcases tropical fruits, flowers, and crops, as well as traditional rice farming, but also uses technology to turn the rice paddies into artistic canvases. Coupled with various themed areas in the park such as flower seas, melon and fruit corridors, orchid pavilions, and leisure agriculture zones — and with this year’s warm winter boosting fast growth in the colorful melon corridor — visitors can enjoy fruit picking activities, making it an ideal Lunar New Year travel destination perfect for families.

The 26 themed zones also include a spring flower sea, a dreamy colorful melon corridor, a domestic timber treehouse cedar forest pavilion and bamboo dream pavilion, an orchid sea pavilion, a tree art and rock landscaping exhibition, a magical pineapple theme park, a bubble colorful fish area, a duck stress relief pavilion, a rose pavilion, a Hakka industry pavilion, a bubble colorful fish area, herbal special crops, domestic grains, land art, rural regeneration, and a good farmers' market featuring quality local products – offering a rich variety of experiences.
The 26 themed zones in the park offer visitors plenty to see and do.
The Pingtung Tropical Agriculture Expo runs from January 18 to February 9. Except for the closure on January 24 (Chinese New Year's Eve), the park is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with free admission.
