The 2020 Nantou Lantern Festival features over 10 themed lantern zones, complemented by several themed light environments and large illuminated installation artworks, kicking off on January 18. With drone fireworks and a magical water dance, it promises to be the most vibrant lantern festival in Taiwan.

Highlights of this year’s lantern festival include the main lantern “Spinning Fortune,” the Garden of Light zone, the Floating Realm zone, and the Musical Fantasy Water Dance. The main lantern is designed with a modern, trendy rat concept, reflecting the current trend of selfie culture. In addition to internal lighting, the exterior will feature high-tech spotlights, along with a multi-circuit rhythmic design that creates a dazzling, vibrant visual impact.

Warm and Gentle Mountain City Lantern Zone.
The Garden of Light lantern zone uses large-scale 3D installations over 3 meters tall, paired with interactive glowing recreational facilities and floral-themed lanterns, creating a romantic atmosphere. From afar, you can see the call of the Light Vine, the Dark Sky Starry Realm, and the Focal Point Bridge, as over a million LED lights shine simultaneously, enveloping the area in a full-spectrum display of colorful light and shadow.
Haoshi Nantou Lantern Zone.
The Floating Realm lantern zone, located at the detention ecological pond behind the convention center—a newly completed area in 2020—features a large festive lantern wall, golden rat floating balloons, and audiovisual rhythm performances, evoking a misty, otherworldly dreaminess that showcases the interplay of light, shadow, and water in a stunning lantern festival scene.
