The annual Taipei Lunar New Year Market will be held from January 10 to January 23 with great fanfare!
This year’s theme is “Super. New Year,” integrating artworks of the Divine Farmer God, the God of Wealth, and the Matchmaker by artist “Jiao Si.” With lucky money, festive experiences, and specially curated New Year goods from shops, the event connects nine major shopping districts in Taipei.

The nine major shopping districts include the Dihua Street Shopping District and Rongbin Shopping Street, known for delicious New Year feasts; the bustling and shopping-friendly areas of the Back Station Shopping District, Huayin Street Shopping District, Taipei Underground Mall, Yuanlin Street Shopping District, and Siping Sunshine Shopping District, where you can shop for work essentials and prepare your New Year outfits; as well as the lively and joyful Ningxia Night Market and Wanhua (Mengjia) Night Market Shopping Districts, where you can enjoy food and fun all night long.
In addition to the opening of the Lunar New Year Market, there is also a Lucky Money Giveaway activity where city officials walk the streets to hand out red envelopes. From January 13 to 21, visit major shopping districts including Dihua Street, Rongbin Shopping Street, Huayin Street, Back Station, Taipei Underground Mall, Mengjia Night Market, and Ningxia Night Market to receive lucky money. The red envelopes feature designs of the Divine Farmer God, the God of Wealth, and the Matchmaker as promotional imagery.
Moreover, at the Taipei Underground Mall, shoppers who spend above a certain amount can join a lucky draw. The top prize is a two-person trip to Okinawa including flights and accommodation, plus other great prizes like iPhones and Nintendo Switches. At the “Relationship” initiative, Ningxia Night Market and Mengjia Night Market encourage people to value their loved ones and bring everyone closer. If you wear couple outfits or group uniforms and dine at any of the 10 designated specialty stalls in these two districts, you can get limited-edition lucky money!
