Every year when cherry blossom season arrives, numerous travelers flock to Japan by plane to chase the blooms. But now, you don’t have to rely solely on flights—you can also enjoy an alternative cherry blossom experience by cruise. Princess Cruises pioneered cherry blossom-themed sailings in 2020, offering three distinctive cherry blossom routes.

1. Immerse Yourself in the Cherry Blossom Seas of Fukuoka and Kumamoto
Princess Cruises exclusively calls at two ancient cities in Kyushu—Fukuoka and Kumamoto. In Fukuoka’s “Maizuru Park,” not only are there historic relics preserved from the Heian period, but the park is also home to thousands of blooming cherry trees. 2. Soak in the Tranquil Urban Blossoms of Fukuoka and Busan
Experience cherry blossoms in both Japan and Korea in one trip. In addition to Fukuoka’s vibrantly blooming “Maizuru Park,” Busan in South Korea has also become a popular cherry blossom destination in recent years. Not only does it offer the “Samil Eco Park” with its 1,200 cherry trees forming a blossom-lined pathway, but it also boasts the “Jinhae Cherry Blossoms,” rated by CNN GO as a must-visit spot in Korea. The Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival is not only the world’s largest cherry blossom festival, but even locals flock here to admire the blooms.
Busan’s Samil Eco Park is hailed as one of “Korea’s 100 Most Beautiful Roads,” and its breathtaking “Jinhae Cherry Blossoms” are truly enchanting.
3. Experience the Vastest Cherry Blossom Seas of Nagasaki and Busan
In addition to visiting Busan’s “Samil Eco Park” in South Korea, Nagasaki’s most renowned cherry blossom destination, “Omura Park,” sees various types of cherry blossoms in full bloom from late March to mid-April each year, including Somei Yoshino and double-flowered cherry varieties. There’s also the Omura cherry, designated as a national natural monument, with approximately 21 different species and over 2,000 cherry trees painting the entire park pink, creating a sweeping sea of blossoms.
