The trend of unmanned hotel services is sweeping the globe, with "full automation" becoming a new choice for travel accommodation.

Signing ceremony between Taiwan startup Dunqian Intelligent and Japan’s WBF Hotel Group

Dunqian Intelligent, a smart hotel startup that originated in Taiwan’s Fengjia Night Market in Taichung, has partnered with Japan’s renowned hospitality group WBF to establish their first flagship store in the heart of Osaka’s Shinsaibashi district, marking their entry into Japan’s smart accommodation market.

The flagship store jointly developed by Dunqian and WBF is located in Osaka’s bustling commercial area, just a 15-minute drive from Shinsaibashi and an 8-minute walk from Honmachi Station, making it highly accessible. With its stylish and minimalist interior design, trendy color schemes, and affordable prices, it has become one of the top choices for travelers visiting Osaka.

The flagship store leverages Dunqian’s intelligent hotel system and collaborates with popular food vendors around Shinsaibashi. Travelers from around the world can simply call the smart robot from their room to place orders and make payments. The robot will then deliver the food right to their door—enjoy tempura, sushi, takoyaki, and more at the touch of a button.

In the future, the hotel will feature unmanned check-in kiosks, allowing guests to complete the registration process in just three minutes. Complicated procedures such as key card access and room service can be easily managed via smartphone. There will also be smart lockers to assist guests with luggage storage, enabling immediate enjoyment of high-quality automated accommodation. Through the introduction of diverse smart devices and systems, guests can experience innovative lodging services while gaining more personal time to explore the surrounding shopping districts and enjoy Osaka’s vibrant nightlife.

Dunqian Intelligent offers travelers a new accommodation experience, as shown in this photo of its smart locker.

To adapt to the Japanese market, Dunqian Intelligent conducted on-site research during the preparatory phase, integrating equipment and technologies already successfully operating in Taiwan with the existing resources of WBF Hotels. By leveraging big data analysis to understand Japanese travelers’ habits, they have tailored a unique accommodation operation plan specifically for the Osaka flagship store.

Through Dunqian Intelligent’s software and hardware solutions, guests can enjoy a fully automated service experience from check-in to check-out.

Dunqian is committed to gradually building a global ecosystem of smart, unmanned hotels through its self-developed technology. Currently, companies from Japan, China, Malaysia, and other regions are in discussions with Dunqian for potential collaboration both domestically and internationally. Their goal for 2020 is to become Taiwan’s No. 1 smart unmanned management consultancy, with an accumulated inventory of 3,200 rooms. As of 2019, nearly 2,000 rooms are already under negotiation. They hope to leverage Taiwan’s momentum in smart technology to shine in the global unmanned hotel sector.
