Shulin is located on the western side of New Taipei, bordered by mountains and divided by streams. With a large resident population, it boasts rich cultural charm. In its early days, it thrived due to abundant mineral resources, and although the mining industry has since declined, the remaining railways and blacksmith shops have become unique tourist attractions. The Deer Horn Creek Ecological Wetland provides an excellent habitat and breeding environment for wildlife, with hundreds of species living in the area, making it a fantastic outdoor nature classroom. The stream is home to many small fish and creatures, attracting numerous birds to feed. Additionally, during certain seasons, visitors can enjoy the beautiful sight of vast lotus blooms in the ecological pond area.

Located in a small square behind Shanjia Station, it is surrounded by ancient house clusters closely tied to the lives of miners in the past. The pit entrance is situated in a corner of the square. Although it has been abandoned for a long time, it evokes memories of local residents washing clothes and playing in the water-filled pit with their families as children, reflecting the optimistic daily life of ordinary people under the harsh conditions of miners' lives.

Built during the Meiji era of Japanese rule, Shanjia Railway Station is the only surviving station building constructed before World War II along the Taipei to Hsinchu route from the Japanese colonial period. After nearly eighty years of weathering, the station building remains largely in its original state. There is also a replica mini version of Shanjia Railway Station made from recycled materials, a highly realistic model of the Shanjia railway line, the Taiwan Railways passenger timetable from the retrocession period, and a foldable tourist map of the railway from the Japanese colonial period—definitely worth a visit.

Shulin Xingren Garden Night Market covers an area of 15,000 pyeong with 700 vendor stalls, making it the largest night market in northern Taiwan. To provide visitors with a better shopping experience, the site includes rain shelters, high-end electrostatic oil machines and oil-water separation sewers in every stall, and even a toilet built with a million-dollar investment, offering a department-store-like shopping experience.
