High school and vocational school students will have an early winter break because the 109th academic year University Entrance Examination for General Scholastic Ability is scheduled for January 17 and 18, 2020. Their winter vacation officially starts after the early closing ceremony on Thursday, January 16, 2020. The originally scheduled classes on January 17 and 20 will be made up on December 21, 2019, and January 4, 2020.
Junior high and elementary school students are not affected, with their closing ceremony on January 20, 2020, and winter vacation starting on January 21. Of course, many parents will also need to start arranging how to care for their children during the break. As for university students, due to the presidential election, this semester started earlier in September, and after final exams between January 6 and 10, 2020, they begin winter vacation — about a week earlier than usual. This allows students to return home to vote and then celebrate the Spring Festival (January 25, Saturday, is New Year’s Eve).
