Balancing coastal and inland development – Yuanli to build a family-friendly park!

Miaoli’s first all-ages, inclusive environment-friendly Cat & Mouse Family Park has been widely loved by both adults and children. The second family park, located in Zhunan’s “Mountain Forest Green Tour Insect Forest Family Park,” is also expected to begin trial operations before next year’s Lunar New Year. To balance development between the mountain and coastal regions of Miaoli County, the county government plans to build a third family park with local Miaoli characteristics next to Yuanli High School in Yuanli Township, creating yet another family leisure environment.

With a total budget of nearly NT$27 million and over six months of construction, the county government developed the first family park in Miaoli County, the “Cat & Mouse Family Park,” located behind the Miaoli County Council. It features an octopus-shaped slide, shell-shaped slides, a sandbox, and more. Since its opening, it has attracted over 100,000 visitors and has been very popular among locals. Additionally, following the establishment of the Zhunan Shishan Sports Park in the Zhunan and Toufen areas, the “Mountain Forest Green Tour Insect Forest Family Park” is set to begin trial operations on January 23 of next year.

The Mountain Forest Green Tour Insect Forest Family Park includes a landscape slide shaped like the Flame Mountains, an inclusive swing, a ladybug green hill slide, a spinning carousel, mushroom-shaped toilets, and a beehive foot-washing pool. It offers a novel and safe recreational space for children of all ages, and local residents are eagerly anticipating its completion.

To balance development across the county, the government plans to build a third family park. Magistrate Hsu Yao-chang stated that the third family park is preliminarily planned to be located next to Yuanli High School in Yuanli Township. The facilities will avoid using standard plastic playground equipment as a guiding principle, aiming to create a rich and diverse play environment where every family can enjoy quality parent-child time in a friendly and fun space.
