When people think of urban parks, Da’an Forest Park often comes to mind. After years of grave relocation, integration, and planning, a brand-new “Wenshan Forest Park” spanning 1 hectare on a hillside near Xingshun Street in Wenshan District, Taipei City, is expected to be completed in 2021!

The Wenshan Forest Park site features an irregular, rake-shaped hillside. The plan connects it with the east-west Jingmei Sports Park and Fuxing Park. Flat sections follow the hands-on trail philosophy, using permeable gravel paths and dirt trails that adapt to the natural terrain, while elevation changes are bridged by boardwalks.
The park also plants a large number of native trees and shrubs along the trails to restore forest ecology, and designs seasonal-themed areas based on the forest’s color changes throughout the year.
