Yuan Mountain is not far from the Old Street of the Three Gorges. The view from the summit is spectacular—you can take in the cityscapes of both the Three Gorges and Yingge, and even snap thrilling photos that rival those taken at Eagle Stone Peak or Battleship Rock. However, the area has limited safety measures, and it gets crowded on weekends, so visitors are advised to stay safe.

The Qingshui Ancestral Temple in the Three Gorges is a spiritual center for immigrants from Anxi. It combines the styles of craftsmen from different schools and contemporary artists, earning it the reputations of “a hall of folk art” and “a hall of oriental art.” The temple remains highly active, enshrining Qingshui Ancestral Master, the guardian deity of Anxi in Fujian.

The Old Street of the Three Gorges is the longest and best-preserved historical district among the nation’s 172 old streets. In its early days, the street was dominated by dyeing shops, but later, as the mountainous areas of the Three Gorges were found suitable for tea cultivation and rich in natural camphor trees, dyeing, tea, and camphor became the area’s most important products. Must-try local snacks on the old street include golden croissants, pig’s blood cake, traditional tofu pudding, and rice noodles.

Wuliaojian is known as one of the “Three Major Rock Climbing Sites in Northern Taiwan.” It’s a highly challenging and fun mountain trail, with many sections requiring rope climbing or rappelling. Not only does it demand strong legs, but also good arm strength. It’s perfect for a personal challenge—helping improve both your physical stamina and mental resilience. Be sure to bring anti-slip gloves, enough water, and food just in case.
