As the weather turns colder and autumn sets in with a cool breeze, the persimmons in Beibu, Hsinchu County, have ripened—plump, sweet, and red, attracting many visitors. But not far from Beibu lies a hidden secret spot of bald cypress trees that has gone viral online, resembling Nordic lakes and mountains that are simply mesmerizing.

Located in Liutang Leisure Valley in Dahu Village, Beibu, there are six large ponds lined with a row of 16 bald cypress trees. The water reflects the trees, creating a unique "mirror-like bald cypress" scenery.

When autumn and winter arrive, you don’t have to worry about crowds ruining your photos. Plus, you can see nearby farmers drying persimmons, adding a lively and bountiful atmosphere to this serene and beautiful landscape.

The peak viewing period for Liutang’s bald cypress trees generally runs from autumn to the Lunar New Year, but the area offers different views throughout the year, giving visitors unique experiences. As the seasons change, the tree colors gradually shift, like nature’s magic—especially in autumn and winter when the cypresses turn from green to yellow and red. Coupled with the reflections on the water, it feels as if you’ve stepped into a Nordic wonderland.

Besides the postcard-perfect views of the bald cypress trees, the area also features the Beibu Liutang Stone Persimmon Dried Fruit Farm, which grows stone persimmons. Every autumn when the strong seasonal winds arrive, they begin drying persimmons and open the farm to visitors for purchases. They also regularly host persimmon farming experience activities.
