Located on Wanhua’s Mengjia Boulevard, formerly a railway track of the Taiwan Railways’ West Coast Line, this thoroughfare has now been transformed into an important transportation route connecting Taipei and Banqiao in New Taipei after the railway was moved underground. Today, we’re taking you and our travel editor to try out this super-delicious traditional cold noodle spot right by Mengjia Boulevard！
Looks ordinary but surprisingly delicious—Lin Family’s Cold Noodles.
Located at the intersection of Mengjia Boulevard and Xiyuan Road in Wanhua, Lin Family’s Cold Noodles doesn’t look very eye-catching from the outside, with a simple sign and not too many seats inside. The owner mentioned they’ve only been open for nearly half a year, so it’s a fairly new eatery.
Refreshing and addictive Lin Family Cold Noodles.
As the name suggests, Lin Family’s Cold Noodles specializes in cold noodles. Their noodles are made from white wheat flour, smooth yet chewy, and their sesame sauce has a slightly sweet flavor—but it’s surprisingly addictive, making it hard to stop after just one bite.
Vinegar Noodles.
In addition to cold noodles, the shop also sells vinegar noodles, braised pork rice, and a variety of side dishes and soups. The prices are quite reasonable, and the overall cost-performance is decent; however, the vinegar noodles are a bit salty and can get tiresome if eaten for too long.
Crispy-edged Fried Egg.
Our travel editor always can’t resist ordering a fried egg when spotting one at a snack shop. Though it’s a simple pleasure, frying an egg well is actually no easy feat. The fried egg here has a delightfully crispy edge and a perfectly runny yolk—just the right touch to complement the cold noodles.
