As Christmas approaches, cities are lit up with dazzling light displays. The 100-year-old Lin Ben Yuan Family Mansion is now hosting a nighttime light show, taking visitors on a journey through time to experience a romantic atmosphere like never before.

This time, the Lin Family Garden presents the dreamlike light show themed “Butterflies Dancing with Light,” combining the garden’s unique architectural style with modern technology. It offers a journey through time, romance, and a leisurely stroll through an ancient garden, guiding travelers to appreciate the beauty of historic sites.
The light show is themed “Butterflies Dancing with Light.”
The light show runs from December 12 to February 15, 2020, every Friday and Saturday, as well as on special holidays such as Christmas, Lunar New Year holiday, and Valentine’s Day. Performances take place from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, every 15 minutes.
The event officially kicks off on December 12.
Starting from the entrance plaza, the lighting design along the route is full of ingenuity. The highlight, the “Lai Qing Pavilion,” features a 3-minute “Butterflies Dancing with Light” projection, integrating floral and seasonal themes to depict the beauty of the changing seasons and create a timeless tunnel between past and present. Visitors can also interact with digital butterflies, enjoying a brand-new nighttime garden experience.
Residents of New Taipei City can enter for free upon presenting their ID.
In addition, the lighting ceremony will be held on the evening of December 12, featuring performances by multiple artists combining various instruments such as Kunqu opera, pipa, guqin, erhu, and sitar, along with dance, puppetry, and cross-genre artistry by a French female vocalist.
The garden opens for nighttime visits and features exhibition activities.
