Every year as the end of the year approaches, cities all over Taiwan deck themselves out in festive Christmas decorations. In addition to the popular New Taipei City Christmas Festival, the beloved Disney family has also made its way to Taichung to create the “Taichung Christmas Dream World,” which will run from December 6 to January 1 of next year, celebrating Christmas with the locals and ushering in the new year in high spirits.

This year’s Disney Christmas event in Taichung is spread across three main areas—the “Front Plaza of the Old Taichung Railway Station,” “Green River (綠川),” and “Willow River (柳川).” It features large-scale light installations of popular Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, and the Princess series. Each weekend evening also brings a dazzling Disney music and light show that illuminates the entire city.
The waterborne Winnie the Pooh light decoration is super soothing.
At the Front Plaza of the Old Taichung Railway Station, you’ll find adorable and playful “Tsum Tsum” gingerbread houses and Christmas trees; Green River showcases classic displays of the popular “Mickey and Minnie” and the heartwarming “Winnie the Pooh and Friends”; while on the Willow River, you can see brave characters from the “Disney Princess series” such as Cinderella, Belle, and Princess Jasmine—nighttime decorations are even more magical and brilliant.

Disney’s waterborne light decorations have become a must-visit, limited-time photo spot in Taichung. Additionally, every Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., there are exciting Disney-themed music performances as well as magical music and light shows that Disney fans shouldn’t miss.
