Japan is known for having some of the world’s highest quality powder snow, with hundreds of ski resorts scattered from north to south. Among them, Hokkaido boasts the most abundant snowfall, making it the top choice for skiing enthusiasts. Nagano Prefecture and Niigata Prefecture, located in the suburbs of Tokyo, are also famous ski destinations. Many ski resorts are close to well-known local hot spring spots, offering not only skiing but also hot spring experiences, which are highly favored by Taiwanese travelers.

For those with longer holidays, you might also consider heading to the world-renowned paradise for skiers — Canada. Located in British Columbia, Whistler and Banff in Alberta were ranked ninth and tenth respectively on TripAdvisor’s 2019 “Travelers’ Choice” Best Travel Destinations in Canada list, making them must-visit hotspots for skiing enthusiasts.

There are plenty of accommodation options, from all-in-one ski hotels like Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido to refined Japanese-style inns such as Hakodate La Vista Hotel by the Sea.
