Busy workdays can be overwhelming, and weekends are the perfect time to escape the city’s hustle and bustle. Known as a world-class snorkeling destination, Green Island also boasts many unique rock formations and spectacular landscapes. Here are six nature-inspired spots where you can take amazing photos on a weekend getaway and enjoy a healing experience.

Haishenping refers to the bay sandwiched between the Little Great Wall and the Sleeping Beauty Rock. This area features well-developed columnar basalt joints, showcasing unique volcanic geology. Hiking up the Little Great Wall trail offers a wide-open view, and looking south, you’ll see a long rock that resembles a sleeping beauty and an isolated, pug-like rock formation—this is one of Green Island’s most iconic sights.

Haishenping is an excellent spot to watch the sunrise and stargaze. It’s the least light-polluted area on Green Island, and its location on the east coast makes it perfect for witnessing the sun rise gradually from the sea. It’s beautiful to visit both during the day and at night.

Big White Sand is located at the southwestern tip of the island and is one of Green Island’s three major diving areas. Its biggest feature is a white sandy beach stretching hundreds of meters, made up of coral particles and shell fragments, with a unique dive path in the middle that resembles the sound of the sea. Outside the beach is a coral-reef-fringed coastline with an extensive intertidal zone, home to rich marine life such as hermit crabs, sea cucumbers, sea slugs, and brittle stars.

Located on Green Island, the Sunrise Hot Springs is one of only three submarine hot springs in the world. The spring water seeps into the earth through seawater or groundwater, then emerges under pressure from the intertidal zone. The water has a slightly salty taste, is non-irritating to human skin, and doesn’t feel sticky—making it a world-class geological attraction where you can also enjoy the sunrise and a star-filled sky.
