The Simple Life Festival combines city life, creativity, and aspirations for the future. In 2019, the festival is collaborating with Taipei 101 for the first time, and will create a brand-new nine-day experience across two weekends at the Water Dance Plaza of Taipei 101 from November 30 to December 8. Themed “2019 Simple Urban+,” this edition carries forward the festival’s core philosophy of ‘doing what you love and making what you love valuable.’ It aims to showcase the diverse and inclusive face of contemporary Taiwanese youth creativity right at the heart of the metropolis, atop its most iconic landmark.

The “2019 Simple Urban+” spanning two weekends has invited a total of 63 musicians and has carefully curated two stages – the City Core Stage and the StreetVoice Stage. Rising talents include recent Golden Melody Award winner ØZI, Denise Ho, and Leo Wang; indie scene standouts like Chen Xianjing, Koala Chien, YELLOW, Fool and Idiot, and 9m88; promising newcomers such as Xu Shi, Chick en Chicks, Aowu with Mountain, Zheng Shuangshuang, and Wu Wu Shen; along with Golden Indie Music Awards regulars like Mayday, Lao Wang Band, and Sweet John.

Established city-generation artists include Tanya Chua, Sandee Chan, Wei Yu Xuan, A-Lin, HUSH, and Yoyo Sharon. The festival features an eclectic range of music styles including hip-hop, urban pop, house, and dubstep — all can be enjoyed at “2019 Simple Urban+.”

At the “2019 Simple Urban+” site, areas will bloom with creative works by young creators. Themed around “creative brands,” “urban flavors,” and “style crossovers,” visitors will step into a distinctive metropolitan scene, experiencing 101 new facets of life in this city. As the day transitions into night in Xinyi District, where Taipei 101 is located, the area transforms into a vibrant spectacle. Special lighting art installations by renowned artists have been invited to create a contemporary urban visual experience.

Not only does it integrate emerging trends of this generation in venue selection, music genres, and curated content to offer a fresh proposal, but during this first-ever 9-day lifestyle event, “2019 Simple Urban+” also challenges itself with a fully “cashless” payment approach. All consumers need is a mobile phone, and they can easily use mobile payments to choose and enjoy.
