Dapo Pond is located in Chishang, known as the homeland of rice. Chishang lies at the junction of the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate. Formed by fault activity, it’s a fault-formed pond where spring water gushes from underground and never dries up year-round, making it a renowned tourist attraction in Chishang.

Covering an expansive area of about 20 hectares, Dapo Pond is ideal for a leisurely bike ride and serves as a recreational spot for locals. On clear days, the blue sky and white clouds reflect on the tranquil surface of the pond, surrounded by lush green grass, creating a refreshing and delightful scene.

As an inland freshwater marshland, Dapo Pond was once listed as one of the “Top Ten Scenic Spots of Taitung” under the name “Fishing at Chishang.” With its excellent natural environment, it boasts abundant ecological resources, including diverse flora and fauna. In summer, visitors can also admire the pond covered in delicate pink lotus flowers.

Adjacent to Dapo Pond, the Chishang Irrigation Channel Bicycle Path starts at Fengze Bridge near Dapo Pond in Chishang, passes through a green tunnel, and connects to the Chishang irrigation channel route. The total length is approximately 17.4 kilometers, and it takes about two hours to complete a loop, with picturesque scenery along the way.
