When it comes to British food, many people often think of the traditional fish & Chips. However, in recent years, the UK has offered an increasingly diverse range of cuisines, with immigrants bringing their authentic dishes to the country and even elevating them. Particularly in the capital city of London, exotic restaurants serving Indian, French, Chinese, Italian, Thai, and other cuisines are all excellent choices for food lovers.
This year, the Aqua Restaurant Group, which owns multiple trendy restaurants and bars and enjoys immense popularity in Hong Kong and China, officially opened its first UK branch — “AQUA London” — on Regent Street in London. The spacious AQUA London consists of three distinct dining areas, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. These areas are Aqua Nueva, Aqua Kyoto, and Aqua Spirit.
Aqua Nueva, with 160 elegant seats, features a creative menu inspired by traditional dishes from northern Spain. The head chef, Alberto Hernandez, trained under the legendary master Ferran Adria at the three-Michelin-starred El Bulli in Catalonia, Spain. The restaurant’s design is infused with avant-garde style, featuring a long glass bar counter and soft lighting that create a warm and bright ambiance. A variety of beige tones and light wood textures add a unique aesthetic touch. The centerpiece of Aqua Nueva is a tapas bar, and the restaurant also includes four private dining areas that can accommodate 10 to 50 guests, as well as two eye-catching rooftop terraces. The combined 3,000-square-meter rooftop terraces offer breathtaking panoramic views of London’s urban landscape.
Aqua Kyoto showcases the cool sophistication of Tokyo’s Ginza district, reinterpreting contemporary Japanese cuisine. The menu, co-developed by Aqua Kyoto’s head chef Kenichi Shibuya and renowned Aqua Group executive Japanese chef Tatsuya Iwahashi (famous in Hong Kong), includes not only modern sushi and sashimi but also a variety of traditional Japanese grilled dishes and unique original flavors. The interior decor blends old and new, with charcoal as the main building material, exuding a strong Zen atmosphere that is serene and otherworldly. Aqua Kyoto can accommodate 112 guests and also features two private dining areas that can host 10 to 70 guests.
Occupying the central part of AQUA London, Aqua Spirit separates the two major dining areas of Aqua Nueva and Aqua Kyoto. It is helmed by the internationally acclaimed and highly creative mixology talent Paulo Figueiredo, attracting numerous Hollywood stars and British celebrities, making it the latest hotspot for indulgence. Aqua Spirit, which can accommodate 100 guests, features a circular bar with 14 bar stools and serves lunch from Monday to Saturday.
