“Danhai Light Rail” will hold Taiwan’s first “Hip-Hop Fun Run” on the evening of December 28, the last Saturday of the year, in Tamsui District, making it the only “light rail fun run.”

“Hop off to run, hop back on after”—the route will feature top local refreshments like Gongliao abalone congee, and runners can enjoy scenic views along the light rail track. The event also offers a unique double-heart running trail, becoming its biggest highlight. After the race, a close-up hip-hop concert by rising pop star Wu Zhuoyuan and trendsetter BCW will liven up the Danhai New Town.
“The Christmas Hip-Hop Fun Run—Run at the Sight of the Track” is Taiwan’s first hip-hop fun run organized by a dedicated unit. Whether you’re a running enthusiast, a railway fan, a hip-hop lover, or just a foodie, this Christmas series of events has something for everyone. Registration is divided into the “9K Youth Night Run & Christmas Hip-Hop Party Group” and the “Christmas Hip-Hop Party Group” for those who just want to join the party. Sign-ups are now open, but spots are limited.
New Taipei City boasts rich tourism resources, including distinctive local agricultural and seafood delicacies, artistic photo spots, and bustling commercial areas. Since the Green Mountain Line of the Danhai Light Rail opened last year, it has not only expanded but also made travel across New Taipei more convenient. It has also shifted the northernmost station of Taiwan’s railway system from Taipei Metro’s Tamsui Station to Danhai Light Rail’s Dingpu Station. On the event day, the sign marking Taiwan’s northernmost railway station will be unveiled on-site.
Participants will receive an exclusive goodie bag, including a free one-day pass for the Danhai Light Rail Green Mountain Line. After completing the run, they’ll also get a hip-hop-inspired finisher medal, glow-in-the-dark headband, towel cape, and a highly symbolic “Reach the Northernmost Station” finisher certificate—sure to attract railway enthusiasts for collection and commemoration.
The Danhai Light Rail celebrated its first anniversary on December 23. To commemorate this milestone and expand the New Taipei Christmas City series of events, this creative fun run that races alongside the light rail features a uniquely designed route. Runners can celebrate Christmas with their loved ones, leaving footprints along the light rail scenery and creating a unique double-heart running trail—the event’s standout feature.
The route also incorporates four challenge stations themed around sports, trendy music, and Christmas. On the day, renowned hip-hop artists like Wu Zhuoyuan and BCW will perform in a two-hour Christmas Hip-Hop Party. Additionally, a food market featuring agricultural and seafood specialties from New Taipei’s Youth Mountain-Sea Line will allow runners to play and explore while soaking in the vibrant Christmas atmosphere of the Danhai New Town.
