The Fulong Sand Sculpture Hunt Kicks Off with World Champion Sand Artists Unveiling 3D Masterpieces

Following the 3D visual revolution brought by the movie *Avatar*, the “2010 Fulong Sand Sculpture Art Festival” features the world champion sand sculpting team from the U.S., *The Sand Sculpture Company*, whose five-member crew showcases their exquisite craftsmanship to create the largest sand sculpture in Taiwanese history. Japanese artist Toshihiko Hosaka also presents a canyon scene depicting the mythological battle between Greek hero Heracles and the Nemean Lion, offering incredible visual appeal. Representing Taiwan, the “Kinglin 3D Sculpture Studio” has also gathered renowned artists such as Wang Songguan, Xu Qingfu, and Cai Yixun to join the creative lineup. With rich imaginations, they combine world-famous architectural landmarks and anime characters—including One Piece vs. the Burj Al Arab, the wildly popular Avatar, Hello Kitty, Mushu, the Bathhouse from *Spirited Away*, Egypt’s Abu Simbel Temple, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Burj Al Arab, and the Sydney Opera House—to create an alternative “Sand Sculpture Expo.”

The “2010 Fulong Sand Sculpture Art Festival” will open at 10:00 AM on May 29th at Fulong Beach. This year, 15 sand sculpture exhibits will be showcased at Fulong Beach, along with a “Sand Sculpture Creation Competition” that selects 20 teams to create on the sands, with the number of works expected to surpass previous years. On the opening day, May 29th, there will also be a series of vibrant and eye-catching performances, including a “Golden Legend” Aladdin lamp dance with desert flair, bikini dances, beach hip-hop, and sailor-style girl group performances. Throughout the event period, fun games such as the “Less ‘Sigh’ Sandbag” and “Golden Sand Nine-Grid,” as well as parent-child sand sculpture DIY workshops, will be offered to enhance the festive atmosphere.

To celebrate the Sand Sculpture Festival, from May 29th to June 27th, local businesses in the Northeast Coast area are also offering a range of food, drink, and entertainment deals.
