Here are six nature-based attractions where you can head out this weekend for amazing photos and a refreshing escape.

Originating from Neihu's Kengtou Mountain at an elevation of 450 meters, Neigou Creek is a section of Taipei rich in forested wilderness charm. The creek features stone-piled gaps that provide habitats for aquatic life while allowing visitors closer access to the water. With well-preserved natural ecology and well-designed water-friendly spaces, Neigou Creek serves multiple purposes including ecological conservation, environmental education, and recreation. Bring your parents here for an amazing forest bathing experience on the weekend.

Shizitou Wetland provides a thriving habitat and is an excellent place for birdwatching. Over 40 bird species can be observed year-round. Each autumn, migratory birds begin their journey southward from the cold northern mainland, stopping at various islands across the Western Pacific before finally reaching the warmer south. In spring, they retrace their route back north. Taiwan, situated along this migration path, serves as a crucial stopover point.

Located in the suburbs near Neihu, the Dragon Boat Rock trail is only a few hundred meters long but is rich in ecological diversity with many types of ferns along the way. A huge white rock stands tall here, resembling a dragon boat — hence its local name. From atop the boulder, you can overlook Zhongyong Mountain, Kaiyan Mountain, and vast green woodlands. Many visitors come here to take dramatic photos that create the thrilling illusion of falling off a cliff.

Bishan Camping Site covers a vast area. The campsite includes a forest hiking trail area, grassy tent camping zones, and wooden platform tent areas. Not only can you enjoy a wide-angle view of the beautiful Taipei Basin landscape, but the site is also adjacent to Dazhutou Mountain. Nearby, there is also a cardiovascular-themed park, making it a great spot for leisurely walks and relaxation.
