Every summer, the event that children look forward to the most is the Taipei Children's Arts Festival. This year’s theme is “Garden of Joy.” From July 8 to August 7, a range of nature-related art activities will deliver ecological knowledge, helping children rediscover their urban environment. In conjunction with the “2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition,” it will create a vibrant artistic garden.

In previous years, the festival collaborated with performing arts groups from different countries. This year, it co-produces the show “Thumbelina the Little Hero” with Italy’s Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio. For the first time, all audience seats in the theater have been replaced with beds, allowing children to lie down and enjoy a “bedtime story.” Spanish puppet and dance troupes will also present “The Little Penguin Who Wanted to Fly” and “Little Paradise,” crafting a magical dream world for children.
This year’s Taipei Children's Arts Festival includes: 6 ticketed performances, 4 free large-scale outdoor shows, 83 community performances across 11 districts, and 7 animated film screenings totaling 132 shows. There are also 2 workshops that can accommodate 280 children each. The program offers a wide variety of content, including folk performance troupes, rock concerts, shadow puppetry, glove puppetry, and bunraku, aiming to provide parents and children with a unique visual feast during the hot summer.
