This summer, scorching heat waves have swept across the country, with average temperatures remaining high nationwide. Aside from cooling off in chilly pools, immersing yourself in the embrace of tree-covered mountains has become a new eco-friendly and low-carbon travel trend. The Alishan National Scenic Area, with its summer average temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius, is a perfect destination for a cool and relaxing getaway.

It's the perfect time to experience the beauty of Alishan in the height of summer. Home to wonders such as sunrises, sea of clouds, sunset glow, sacred trees, and railways, Alishan sits at an altitude of about 2,200 meters, offering cool and comfortable weather year-round. In summer, the daytime average temperature is around 20°C, dropping to approximately 16°C at night and about 14°C in the early hours when viewing the sunrise. The temperature is mild and pleasant. Aside from sunrise viewing, the park is also currently in full bloom with irises and yellow azaleas, presenting breathtaking scenery.
To allow the public to revisit the beauty of Alishan before the summer vacation, transportation routes severely damaged by storms were reopened by the end of June. Additionally, the Alishan Forest Railway’s Sunrise Line and Zhushan Line have resumed operation, bringing great news to Alishan enthusiasts. Currently, summer sunrises occur around 05:26, and visitors can take the Zhushan Line forest train to get there. The first train departs at 04:30, and on holidays, it leaves even earlier at 03:40.

To boost Alishan tourism once again, the Forestry Bureau has added “Alishan’s New Eight Scenic Spots” to the existing “Five Wonders of Alishan.” These include the Tower Mountain Strange Rocks, Ogasawara Mountain, Shuisan Giant Tree, No. 28 Giant Tree, the Remains of the Alishan Sacred Tree, Ciyun Viewing Platform, Shen Yi Waterfall, and Xianglin Arch Bridge — all worth experiencing for visitors to the mountain.
