Even though the hot summer continues, the happy news is that August 16th is the lunar Qixi Festival, also known as the Chinese “Valentine’s Day.” The air is suddenly filled with a romantic atmosphere～and it even helps to slightly cool down the sweltering heat. Where do you plan to spend Valentine’s Day with your beloved “partner” this year? Out of ideas? Well then, if you can’t find a good spot in China, how about Japan? We recommend several “lovers’ sacred sites” that Japanese couples absolutely love to visit!
Lovers’ Sacred Sites ～
The origin of these lovers’ sacred sites is as follows. It was part of an idea from the “Research and Development Project” hosted by the Japan-specific NPO “Regional Revitalization Support Center,” and on April 19, 2006, a report was published selecting the “Best Dating Spots.” Judges included renowned figures such as Yumi Katsura (fashion design master), Shogo Kariyazaki (master of ikebana), and Yū Hayami (actress).
Lovers’ Sacred Sites: These are officially certified in Japan!
Most of the selected spots are surrounded by nature and boast beautiful night views. As of June 2010, there were already 100 such sacred sites selected. Spread across Japan, these 100 spots are perfect for couples to have heart-to-heart talks, ideal for long-married couples to relive their romance, and great venues for unmarried couples to deepen their bond or even propose.
