Feel like Taiwan lacks Halloween vibes? Dress up and head to the zoo for a thrilling experience. The Taipei Zoo is holding the “Zoolloween: Animals Get Spooked Too” Halloween series from mid-October to the end of the month, using creative ideas to build a fun and eerie atmosphere. Parents and kids can show off their creativity while having a blast.

Although Halloween is a Western holiday, the zoo has started building up the festive mood ahead of time to bring some spooky fun to Taiwan. The “Zoolloween: Animals Get Spooked Too” event is divided into three parts. The “Animal Haunted House” special exhibition has already opened, turning the first-floor corridor into a terrifying and mysterious space. Installations such as fishing nets, giant roadkill wheels, and animal cages let visitors experience the real dangers faced by wildlife. Various animal skulls, preserved specimens in liquid, and dried exhibits are also hidden in display cases, creating an eerie mix of real and fake animals.
In addition, the “Zoolloween Fun Fair” begins at 1 PM on October 30, where conservation groups will introduce the public to the threats facing wildlife. There will also be a life-sized Snail Monopoly game and a snail race. At 6 PM, the “Be Wild Costume Party” kicks off, featuring a specially built catwalk. Candy donations are welcome, and costume participants must register by October 26. Only 150 spots are available.

On October 30, the zoo will stay open until 9 PM. Visitors entering after 4 PM can purchase a “Starlight Ticket (NT$30)” for entry. In the evening, in addition to activities in the main square, the Taiwan Native Species Area and the Cute Animals Area will also be open for families to enjoy the Halloween spirit.
