At around 4 p.m. today, the Hualien County Fire Department received a report that one member of a six-person hiking group — a 23-year-old Malaysian named Zheng Mingyi — was bitten by a hundred-pace viper in the Talomu Stream area northwest of Mt. Yuli. The fire department has dispatched personnel for rescue and requested helicopter assistance.
