On May 30, the "Heaven’s Gate Challenge" media meet-and-greet featuring Jeb Corliss, hosted by Red Bull, was held at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing’s 798 Art District. The world’s top wingsuit pilot, Jeb Corliss, revealed to the media for the first time his new challenge: flying through the narrowest natural mountain fissure in the world — the Heaven’s Gate at Jianglang Mountain in Quzhou, Zhejiang. As a founding member and race director of the World Wingsuit League (WWL), Jeb also detailed the flight route and competition rules for the second Red Bull Wingsuit World Championship, referring to it as the “Formula 1 of the skies.”

This is Jeb’s second trip to China this year. Earlier in the month, arranged by Red Bull, he visited Zhangjiajie in Hunan, Enshi in Hubei, and Zhejiang to survey the race course for the second Red Bull Wingsuit World Championship and scout locations for his next record-breaking flight. Since recovering from a leg injury sustained during a crash on South Africa’s Table Mountain in 2012, Jeb has fully healed after a year of rehabilitation — in fact, he says his leg is “stronger than ever.” He has shelved plans to attempt a snow landing flight in Alaska and a flight over the “Fire Dragon” in Alaska, and has instead chosen to relaunch his record-breaking flight campaign in China. “I love China, so I’ll take off from here,” said Jeb.
Before the event, the documentary "Heaven’s Gate," which tells the behind-the-scenes story of Jeb’s breathtaking flight through Zhangjiajie’s Tianmen Cave two years ago, premiered. The film recently won the Best Film award at the Red Bull Outdoor Extreme Film Festival. Producer Yang Feng said, “Making this film has always been Jeb’s dream, and we’re thrilled to have completed it together. Thanks to everyone behind the scenes.” Aerial cinematographer Jeff added, “Flying alongside him and capturing it all from the air was incredibly meaningful. Jeb is truly a hero.”
