With the increasing frequency of mountain accidents, many rescue organizations have begun promoting mountain awareness education. Mr. Chang Chun-ching and Ms. Du Li-fang, the chairman and his wife of the Taiwan Mountain Education Promotion Association, are among them.
“Facing the mountains” means “facing the wilderness,” and it requires approaching them with reverence and humility to truly understand them. It encompasses not only mountaineering and wilderness education but also includes mountain wisdom, hunter culture, and indigenous culture. Only by adopting the right attitude and mindset when entering the mountains can one safely explore them and experience the most precious values of human life and human rights.
