Tropical Storm Halong (No. 23, international name: HALONG) has formed. At 8:00 AM on November 3, its center was located at 14.8°N, 155.6°E, moving northwest at 16 km/h. Although it does not affect Taiwan, attention should still be paid to weather changes.
The central pressure of Typhoon Halong is 995 hPa, with maximum sustained winds near the center at 20 m/s and maximum gusts at 28 m/s. The radius of the 7-level gale is 100 km.
A high-pressure system in the north with a pressure of 1038 hPa is located at 49°N, 120°E, in Mongolia, moving slowly southeastward.
On the 3rd, the northeast wind strengthens. There will be brief showers in northeastern Taiwan, scattered brief showers in northern and eastern regions, isolated brief showers in the southeastern region, and mostly cloudy to sunny conditions elsewhere. Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu will see mostly cloudy to sunny skies, with isolated brief showers in the mountainous areas of southern Taiwan in the afternoon.
On Monday, November 4, the northeast wind strengthens. On Tuesday, November 5, under the influence of the northeast wind, northern and eastern parts of Taiwan will continue to experience scattered brief showers. The windward side in northern Taiwan will have particularly high moisture levels, with intermittent rain likely in the north and Yilan-Hualien area, where Yilan is expected to see longer periods of rain.
On Wednesday, the northeast wind weakens slightly, and rainfall is less intense compared to Monday and Tuesday. However, the weather in northeastern Taiwan remains worse than in other areas, with more rain. There will be scattered brief showers in the northern and eastern regions and isolated brief showers in the southeastern region.
On Thursday, November 7, another round of northeast wind strengthens. On Friday and Saturday (November 8 and 9), the northeast wind will continue to affect the area, bringing more rain on the windward side than on Wednesday. Rain will persist in the northeastern region, while other northern and eastern areas will continue to see scattered brief showers. The southeastern region will have isolated brief showers.
In terms of temperature, over the next week, it will feel cool in the mornings and evenings across the country. Morning lows will mostly be around 21–22°C. On Wednesday, when moisture is lower, mornings will feel cooler, with lows in central and northern Taiwan around 1°C. Daytime highs in the north and Yilan-Hualien will be around 25–27°C due to more cloud cover, while other regions will see highs of 28–31°C. The north and Yilan-Hualien will be comfortable to slightly cool throughout the day. It’s advised to wear a jacket and carry rain gear when going out. Central and southern Taiwan will experience large day-night temperature variations, so it’s important to adjust clothing accordingly.
