To promote local Thai culture, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has specially organized the “7 Amazing Mini Light and Sound Show” from the end of this year through next year, offering international travelers more nighttime activity options. The light and sound shows will be held in seven historical sites, integrating local history, traditions, and art, with each location featuring a unique performance.
Thai performances are distinctive in their costumes, as shown in this image of the Khon dance at the National Theatre.
The seven historical sites include Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Ayutthaya, Sukhothai, Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima), Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Bangkok. Details of the events at each site are as follows.
1. Sukhothai Sunset Dinner Feast
Location: Sukhothai Historical Park
Ticket: 600 THB (includes dinner)
Dates: February 5, March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4, July 2, August 6, September 3, 2011
2. Chiang Rai Highland Tribal Handicrafts and Cultural Performances
Location: Highland Tribal Development Center, Mae Chan District
Dates: January 8, February 12, March 12, 2011
3. Chiang Mai Northern Thai History and Culture Performance
Location: Three Kings Monument
Ticket: 299 THB (includes dinner)
Dates: January 15, February 19, March 19, 2011
4. Nakhon Si Thammarat King Naresuan Historical Performance
Location: Sichon Makha Nakhon Si Thammarat Park
Ticket: 299 THB

5. Korat Phimai Sanctuary “Wimaiya Natakarn” Light and Sound Show
Location: Phimai Historical Park

6. Ayutthaya Mini Light and Sound Show
Location: Ayutthaya Historical Park

Light and Sound Show Hours: Daily from 8:00 to 18:30 in 2011
