This year coincides with the Taipei International Flora Expo and the ongoing special exhibition *Monet’s Garden*, which explores the beauty of light and shadow. The 2011 Art Day theme is “Paint a Spring Garden.” The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts will organize a variety of art exhibitions and family-friendly activities on March 19 and 20. On the 19th (Saturday), there will be an award ceremony and creative games, inviting the public to mix colors and create art on a large mural in the lobby. Starting at 3:00 p.m., the Taipei Symphony Orchestra will perform classic pieces for visitors. Welcome everyone to spend the weekend at the museum and enjoy this rich visual and auditory feast.
The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts invites the public to paint together and enjoy a musical extravaganza.
To encourage the appreciation of diverse forms of art, from 10:00 a.m. on the 19th, visitors can pick up a quiz card upon entry. The first 200 participants to complete the answers will receive a *KoKo Nature* foldable cushion as a souvenir and a *Monet’s Garden* learning booklet. Additionally, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. that day, a “Paint a Spring Garden” creative activity will be held in the lobby. A large mural depicting a natural landscape with lakes, aquatic plants, and tree forests will be set up. Colorful circle stickers, palettes, and brushes will be provided for participants to create their own vibrant designs. Amid the blooming flower arrangements around the museum and the inspiration from various art exhibitions inside, everyone is invited to co-create a beautiful painted garden.
The *Monet’s Garden* special exhibition is one of the major shows of the year at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.
On the day, the “Nature Exploration” holiday family tour will be led by volunteer guides, taking families through the *2010 Art Exploration Exhibition – KoKo Nature* and workshop creations. The 90-minute guided experience will allow participants to appreciate the beauty of nature as interpreted by artists through paintings, exhibition layouts, and spatial planning. The museum’s 2nd-floor “209 Art Space” will also host a “Garden in the Afternoon” open-age painting activity from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitors are welcome to visit this creative space anytime during opening hours and pick up a brush to paint their dream garden.
