The health bureaus of New Taipei City and Taipei City recommended a total of 20 hiking trails in both cities on the 10th to launch the “Hand in Hand Across Taipei and New Taipei: Families, Let’s Go Hiking!” event. Participants who collect stamps from five out of the 20 trails can redeem a participation prize at the Guandu–Bali Hiking Relay event to be held on October 23.

Lin Chin-fu, deputy director of the New Taipei City Health Bureau, said that the “Hand in Hand Across Taipei and New Taipei: Families, Let’s Go Hiking!” event has carefully selected 20 family-friendly hiking routes across the two cities for participants to stamp and collect points. Additionally, 20,000 hiking passports are being issued for free distribution to the public.

Taipei City Health Bureau Director Lin Chih-hung stated that the natural terrain of Taipei City and New Taipei City offers numerous scenic trails. This event not only promotes the concept of healthy exercise and fosters a habit of walking for wellness among the public but also enhances interaction between the two cities. Residents can use the holiday to go on outings, enjoy the natural beauty of Greater Taipei, experience the charm of both Taipei and New Taipei, and collectively create lasting memories.

The recommended mountain trails are categorized into family level, hiker level, and advanced level. Each city has introduced ten family-friendly routes, such as the Caoling Grass Mountain Ancient Trail in New Taipei City, which is lush with greenery and enveloped in mountain mist; the Yuan Mountain Hiking Trail in Sanxia, where the mountaintop resembles a soaring kite and offers a broad, breathtaking view. Taipei City’s Tianmu Ancient Trail Hiking Trail, though only 300 meters above sea level, features diverse ecological environments including tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate broadleaf forests; the Xiangshan Family Trail provides a panoramic view of the Taipei Basin.
