Southeast Net of mainland China reported that this year’s Dragon Boat Festival mini-break coincided with International Children's Day on June 1, making short-distance family trips a dominant choice and injecting vitality into what is usually a quiet tourism season for the Dragon Boat Festival.

Medium-distance travel was also popular, with Taiwan and South Korea routes being especially favored, but Southeast Asia faced a challenging period, resulting in a lukewarm tourism market.

Southeast Net learned from travel agencies that the Dragon Boat Festival mini-break, overlapping with Children's Day, turned into a family-oriented travel hotspot.

Huang Yanling, manager of Zhangzhou C&D International Travel Agency, said that June 1 was mainly about short-distance travel, particularly family trips. The recommended products were all short-haul, and travel agencies replaced rushed sightseeing or theme park visits with “theme + experience” packages, adding more fun and uniqueness.

In addition, the warmer weather has also made water-based routes particularly popular, becoming a top recommendation for the Dragon Boat Festival.

It is understood that for overseas travel this year, Taiwan and South Korea are the top choices for travelers. Taiwan’s tourism is booming, while South Korea’s market continues to heat up, influenced by Korean dramas such as “My Love from the Star.”

In contrast to the thriving tourism markets in Taiwan and South Korea, Southeast Asia has seen a downturn. Huang Yanling said that Thailand has been significantly affected, Malaysia has also seen a decline, and a summer cruise package that was originally set to include Vietnam has now been rerouted. 1030601
