National Yunlin University of Science and Technology delivered an outstanding performance at the INPEX International Invention Exhibition in Pittsburgh, USA. Out of the three exhibits showcased, the university won one gold and one silver award. Among them, the gold-winning “Amazing Land Family Board Game” received recognition from the renowned British brand Parragon, and discussions on export matters are currently underway.

The gold-winning entry is the “Amazing Land Family Board Game,” designed by teachers Zhang Dengwen from the Digital Media Department and Hong Chongwen from the Electrical Engineering Department (research team: Wang Yiya and Chen Yan’an), specifically targeting families with children aged 3 to 7. Combining the needs of both parents and children, the game is designed as an interactive board game where kids and parents solve problems together, allowing everyone to have fun playing together. Its modular universal design with adjustable difficulty levels makes it usable for people of all ages and abilities, and it can even be combined with Lego to create a variety of ever-changing scenarios. Its high degree of versatility earned recognition from the renowned British brand Parragon, and discussions on export matters are currently underway.

The silver-winning entry is the “Sensing Device and Array-type Sensor Measurement System,” developed by teacher Zhou Rongquan and Zhou Xuetao from the Electronics Department (research team: Liao Yihong, Lin Qinyi, Chen Ruiting, and Lin Yuren). It is a data fusion measurement system that formalizes the values measured by array-type sensors and enables data fusion through a software system. This data fusion utilizes only the measurement data from the sensors themselves, without requiring any additional data. By applying various data fusion algorithms, it can fuse multiple sets of measurement data from array-type sensors to achieve optimal measurement results. It also allows for the presence of faulty sensing windows within the array-type sensors, giving the data fusion process fault tolerance. Therefore, the data fusion method proposed in this creation can perform data calculations using a human-machine interface software without the need for additional devices, offering the advantage of low cost.
