To welcome the Lunar New Year, the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau has organized the “Fourfold Joy to Celebrate the New Year” 2-day Kaohsiung tour itinerary, featuring four major themes—mountains and nature, ocean and coastline, arts and culture, and lantern festivals. The itinerary connects popular events and emerging attractions. The Kaohsiung-Pingtung-Penghu Fun Card is also offering special deals during the winter break, including a discounted 2-day “Qijin Wind-Riding Tour” for NT$338 and a 1-day “West District Light Travel” for NT$299, both allowing unlimited rides on the MRT and public buses.
With the festive atmosphere of celebrating the New Year in full swing during the winter holiday season, the Tourism Bureau has integrated the “Fourfold Joy to Celebrate the New Year” 2-day tour itinerary. For those interested in “mountain and nature experiences,” they can visit Maolin to see the ecological spectacle of purple crow butterflies in flight, or enjoy the cosmos flower fields in Meinong and the sunflower seas in Shanlin. Alternatively, they can choose the “ocean and coastline” journey, exploring exhibitions at Pier-2 Art Center, strolling through the old streets of Hamasen and Sizihwan, taking a ferry to Qijin, and visiting the viral Rainbow Church to take in the romantic beauty of the sunset.
Tourism Bureau Director-General Hsu Chuan-sheng stated that the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival combines events from Qishan, Gangshan, and the Fo Guang Shan Peace Lantern Ceremony, each with its own unique features. Additionally, the VIG Cake Shop’s Golden Pineapple Castle is perfect for family DIY pineapple cake making, while Jinshi Lake offers a kids’ playground with sand pits and play facilities. MLD Taipei Aluminum has transformed from an old industrial plant into a large creative shopping mall. There’s also the bamboo and oyster land art installation “Gather” in Qianzhen 31st Phase Park, symbolizing hope and rebirth, showcasing a diverse range of attractions.
Hsu Chuan-sheng said that the Kaohsiung-Pingtung-Penghu Fun Card is also offering special deals. The originally priced NT$570 “Qijin Wind-Riding 2-Day Tour” package is now available for just NT$338, including two days of unlimited MRT and local bus rides, as well as round-trip ferry rides to Qijin. On February 1, the originally priced NT$455 “West District Light 1-Day Tour” will be offered at a special price of NT$299, which includes a one-day pass for the West District Express Bus, round-trip electric boat rides on Lotus Pond, and discounts on packaged picnic boxes.
