Judge Henry Lo selected the work by user katat as the July winner of the Monthly Travel Photography “Appreciation.” Below is the Henry Lo judge’s comment:
The overall quality of entries this month was very high, with some demonstrating exceptional photography skills. I chose this particular photo, which appears to have been taken by drone. Some may say drone photography is “cheating,” relying too much on equipment—but in reality, drone shooting comes with many challenges and higher risks of equipment loss. Iceland’s weather is extremely unpredictable, with frequent strong winds, and during my 11-day trip, there was only one morning suitable for drone flying. While drones offer great angles, it still takes a skilled photographer to find the right spot and compose a compelling image.
