A New Tourism Blue Ocean: British-owned Princess Cruises has partnered with Taipei 101 in an initiative called “A Date with the Princess.” Starting this August, the Golden Princess will be based at Keelung Port in Taiwan. Many international travelers fly into Taiwan, spend one or two days exploring Taipei, then board the ship. According to 101, from May to November next year, they will collaborate with the Sapphire Princess to attract even more visitors to Taipei’s tourist attractions.

According to the 2016 Asia Cruise Trends Analysis, there will be 24 million global cruise passengers in 2016. To boost Taiwan’s tourism appeal, Taipei 101 has partnered with Princess Cruises, offering visitors discounted tickets to the 101 Observatory — families can enjoy up to 30% off — and shopping discounts among other perks. Since August, 101 has already distributed 1,000 such cruise passenger coupons.

Princess Cruises brought 3,000 foreign tourists to Taiwan between April and June this year, with an estimated 5,000 or more expected between August and October.
