With summer vacation approaching, the Tourism Bureau’s online platform “Taoyuan Self-Guided Travel” will launch four major summer themes and nine new travel routes starting in June. These include the Guanyin Lotus Festival, Land Art Festival, and experiences in the North Cross-tribal areas, combining the most exciting local summer festivals and nearby attractions to create the best family-friendly journeys. For as low as NT$830, you can enjoy food, fun, and activities — online registration is now open 24 hours a day.

The first highlights include the Guanyin Lotus Gardens, known as the “South White River, North Guanyin” of lotus beauty. In line with the Lotus Festival, two limited 1-day tours are planned: the NT$880 “Happy Lotus Pond” tour visits Yangguang Farm and the Lin Family Ancestral Home to pick flowers and peel lotus seeds, and includes an interactive performance with the internationally renowned “Nostalgia Puppet Show” face-changing act. The NT$830 “Mystery Algal Reef” tour takes you to the Lotus Pond to experience floating on a giant lotus and visit the precious thousand-year-old living fossil algal reef formations. Both tours allow you to admire the swaying lotus flowers in the sea breeze and taste lotus-inspired meals.

Summer-exclusive offerings also include sweet and juicy Lala Mountain peaches. The NT$2,850 Atayal Tribe Mini-Tour not only lets you learn to make hunter traps at the tribal hunter school and experience farming, but also includes DIY peach-mango smoothies, tribal indigenous cuisine, and a visit to the Little Wulai Skywalk. The 2-day Ancient Tree Eco-Tour at NT$4,300 not only includes accommodation at the Daguan Resort Farm B&B, but also visits the Kikuo Pai Church, Little Wulai Skywalk, Sky Rope Bridge, Ghost Waterfall, Lala Mountain Sacred Tree Grove, and the Baleng Ancient Trail — all your must-see spots in one trip.

Other options include the NT$990 Bade Pond Culture Tour, launched for the August Land Art Festival opening, as well as the season-free NT$990 Farming Tour along Kengzi Creek featuring the painted village at Kengkou, the NT$980 Walk Through Yangmei exploring three century-old landmarks, the NT$1,380 Yunnan Rice Noodle experience with DIY rice noodle making, or a tea-scented mini-tour through Daxi Old Street.

These nine travel routes are now open for online registration. The two Guanyin Lotus routes offer free shuttle services for travelers from the Greater Taipei area and Taoyuan, plus a complimentary exclusive-designed travel storage bag from Taoyuan Self-Guided Travel. Welcome to register via Taoyuan Self-Guided Travel (https://www.tripbaa.com/theme/taoyuan-travel/) and join in the fun.
