Entering its 7th year, the Taoyuan Summer Family Art Festival will run from the 15th to the 22nd, featuring five major series of activities—all free of charge. Tonight’s opening will feature the “JUMP” performance show, one of South Korea’s top four, and this year also introduces an interactive art experience zone, including whispering tubes, funhouse mirrors, and kaleidoscopes, aiming to combine education and entertainment. The hope is that children spending their summer vacation in Taoyuan will have plenty of joyful memories.

Cultural Affairs Bureau Director Qiu Zhuangxiu-mei said that the Taoyuan Summer Family Art Festival has been held for many years, and its biggest feature is that it “never repeats last year’s events.” Therefore, organizers rack their brains every year to come up with new tricks and novelties. This year’s theme is “Little Players,” and five major activity series have been launched: Little Players Grand Theater, Little Players Family Theater, Little Players Art Adventure, Little Players’ Adventure Story, and Little Players Story House.

Qiu Zhuangxiu-mei said that this year’s highlight is the renowned South Korean team. The “South Korea JUMP” show differs from traditional martial arts performances with its serious tone, instead combining special music effects to showcase the beauty and strength of the human body. The “South Korea Cat Drum Show” incorporates electronic music into traditional percussion instruments, delivering a completely different experience.

The Story House creates a “family art experience interactive theater” that combines storytelling, fairy tales, puppet shows, and dance to spark children’s interest in performing arts, encouraging them to sing and dance together. This year also integrates Hakka cultural elements, allowing children to grow up in a multicultural environment. The “Little Players’ Adventure Story” features obstacle games designed with classic childhood toys, evoking nostalgia for adults and offering hands-on fun for kids. This year also adds an interactive art experience zone, including three artistic installations—the “Happy Whispering Tube,” the “Magic Funhouse Mirror,” and the “Kaleidoscope Maze”—to educate through play and allow families to grow together through traditional science-based games.
