The Golden Pineapple Castle, which has been open for just over two years, is operated by the renowned pastry brand “Wei Ge Baking.” This eight-story building looks like a European-style castle, and its entrance is adorned with cute mascots and thoughtfully designed decor that is full of childlike charm—making it a perfect destination for family outings. Until the end of April, guided tours are completely free by reservation, and the pineapple cake-making experience is only half price at NT$100, which is a great deal.

Child-friendly Decor, Grand Exterior

Wei Ge Baking was established in 1992. Thanks to its innovative business approach, it has carved out a niche in Taiwan’s bakery industry, which is dominated by century-old shops. Two years ago, it built the “Golden Pineapple Castle” tourist factory on Tongxie Road along the middle reaches of the Love River in Kaohsiung. The site incorporates interactive technology and DIY pineapple cake experiences, offering families an educational and fun play space.

As soon as you step into the Golden Pineapple Castle, you can clearly feel the dedication of the operators. The grand exterior of the castle immediately catches the eye, and many visitors quickly start taking photos with their phones. The interior decor is also full of clever touches, using bright colors to attract the attention of young children. Free-access areas include the first-floor retail space, the fifth-floor cultural and creative shop, and the dream restaurant on the seventh and eighth floors. The ball pit play area next to the fifth-floor shop is a paradise for kids.

Making Experience Costs Just NT$100

Guided tours run hourly, each lasting about 15 minutes. There is also a rare spherical TV that shows beautiful scenery from around Kaohsiung. When visiting the pineapple cake production line, you can even taste freshly baked, hot-off-the-oven pineapple cakes delivered by a mini train.

If you have enough time, it’s highly recommended to sign up for the pineapple cake DIY experience. Under the guidance of professionals, you can make six pineapple cakes by hand. The operator will help bake them, and the whole process takes about an hour and a half. Moreover, until the end of April this year, there’s a half-price promotion, so the DIY activity costs only NT$100—cheaper than buying six pre-made pineapple cakes on-site for NT$180.
