The 2018 Hsinchu City Children's Art Festival will take place from April 4 to 8 at Xiangshan Water Resources Park. The city government has partnered with multiple hotel operators to launch the “Children's Art Festival Hotel Package,” allowing kids to enjoy playgrounds, ocean views, magic shows, and a full “land, sea, and air” experience — all while staying well-fed and well-rested for a happy holiday.
The city government pointed out that the Children's Art Festival, now in its third consecutive year, attracted 250,000 visitors in 2017. In 2018, the event has been expanded to encourage the public to explore Hsinchu City, enjoy a 3-day-2-night trip, and take part in the free “Old Town Mini Tour” guided walks. Discounted room rates have also been offered in partnership with multiple hotels in Hsinchu City and County.
In addition, several hotels have designed special programs for families, offering cake baking DIY, hands-on crafts, storytelling, adventure missions, one-night-two-meals packages, free meals for children, and more. They also provide perks such as 3D animal puzzles, plush toys, fiddler crab paper crafts, Anpanman sand toys, and popcorn buckets.
Yan Zhangsheng, head of the city’s tourism promotion division, said this year’s event specially collaborates with ten operators — Zhuhu Shun Lihotel Culture & Tourism, Ambassador Hotel Hsinchu, Flori Hotel, Sheraton Hsinchu, Fullon Hotel, Star inn, Lakeside Howard Plaza Hotel, Regent Hsinchu, Carlton Hotel, and Formosa Regent Hsinchu — to offer special Children's Art Festival hotel packages. These not only provide better services but also help attract more tourists through the promotional power of the Children's Art Festival.
In addition to discounted rooms, many hotels also offer diverse extras such as hearty buffet breakfasts, DIY experiences, and thoughtful gifts. For example, The Regent Hsinchu provides meal vouchers for “Xiangshan A-Mu’s Homemade Braised Dishes” from Zhuqian Linji, guided tours of the International Rice Noodle Factory, fiddler crab paper crafts, and Anpanman sand toy sets.
The Sheraton Hsinchu offers a one-night-two-meals package plus a popcorn bucket; Zhuhu Shun Lihotel Culture & Tourism gives away 3D animal puzzles from Paper King and a 10% discount coupon for Xiaoda Wooden House muffins; the Carlton Hotel gives away a Kitty camera and handmade cookies.
In addition, family-friendly DIY activities are all the rage. Ambassador Hotel Hsinchu has specially planned cake baking DIY experiences and offers tickets to the Spring Pool Glass Sightseeing Factory. Flori Hotel launches “Baby Art Play” activities, giving children hands-on crafting experiences and free kids’ meals at lunch and dinner with LINE coupons. Lakeside Howard Plaza Hotel organizes sing-along drawing cards and Card Planet adventure missions to ensure a joyful Children’s Day for families.
Meanwhile, the free “Children's Art Festival – Old Town Mini Tour” guided walks will be held during the Children’s Day holiday from April 4 to 8, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily at the Hsinchu Railway Station Tourist Service Center. There will be two sessions per day, each lasting 1.5 hours. Enthusiastic volunteer guides will lead participants to explore old-town heritage sites such as Hsinchu Railway Station, Dongmen City Gate, the Moat, and Chenghuang Temple. Each session has a limit of 20 people and requires advance registration. The meeting point is at the Hsinchu Railway Station Tourist Service Center.
