Lin Deyu, the Democratic Progressive Party’s nominee for the city council in the Dali and Wufeng districts, specially invited the well-known children’s theater troupe “Fun Theater Troupe” on the afternoon of the 8th to perform “Saving the Colorful Kingdom” at the open space of the Wutai Night Market on Detai Street in Wufeng. The lively performance and the interaction between the actors and the children provided an exciting afternoon for nearly a thousand audience members. Lin Deyu promised on the spot that he would definitely focus on family-related issues in the future, with education as the top priority of his political agenda, and would be a voice for families.
City council candidate Lin Deyu stated that the “Happy Family Arts and Culture Season,” organized by Legislative Yuan Vice President Tsai Chi-chang, has entered its fourth year. Thanks to his strong efforts, it is performing in the Tuen District for the first time this year. Last month, the Little Frog Theater Troupe was invited to perform at the Dali Children’s Welfare Center, attracting over a thousand parents and children. Therefore, he specially planned a Wufeng performance, hoping that children in Wufeng could also enjoy cultural activities and experience the charm of a children’s theater troupe firsthand.
Lin Deyu said that as a father of two children, he can more deeply understand the needs of new parents and their kids, and hopes to create a more child- and family-friendly living environment. He strongly advocates for advancing the one-stop childcare system, improving the quality and quantity of public childcare, and adding more non-profit kindergartens. He also pushes for adding twelve-sensory play equipment in parks and schools. He aims to build child- and family-friendly co-learning and play spaces, increase the number of family restrooms and parking spaces, and expand parenting-friendly environments.
Lin Deyu emphasized that the two family theater events in August and September, which respectively invited the Little Frog Theater Troupe and the Fun Theater Troupe to perform for families in Dali and Wufeng, were sold out both times. The kids had a great time, and many parents asked when such family-friendly events would be held again, generating a huge response. Seeing the innocent smiles of the children, he stressed that in the future, he will actively integrate public and private resources to bring diverse cultural and artistic activities to communities and schools, enriching the family arts experiences of children in Dali and Wufeng.
In the Fun Theater Troupe’s performance of “Saving the Colorful Kingdom,” the actors frequently interacted with the children in the audience and led sing-alongs, captivating even preschoolers. The storyline uses the disappearance of a rainbow in the Colorful Kingdom to make animals aware of environmental damage caused by daily life, teaching everyone the need to start conserving energy in order to gradually green the environment and restore nature to its original state.
