Taoyuan not only boasts diverse landscapes but also the largest forest recreation area in northern Taiwan. Check out these six natural attractions for a weekend getaway—snap some amazing photos and enjoy a healing experience.

1.Little Wulai Scenic Area
In Taoyuan’s Fuxing District, travelers can enjoy hiking through the mountains and splashing around with kids. As you walk through the area, you’ll feel the serene thrill of walking through deep valleys, with gentle breezes brushing your hair, and dense forests along with mysterious waterfalls hidden among the trees—it’s like stepping into a peaceful paradise away from the noise of the world.

2.Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area
Dongyanshan Forest Recreation Area is located at the southern end of the Xueshan Mountain Range. From a distance, the mountain resembles a reclining young woman gazing eastward with her large eyes—hence its name. The recreation area spans nearly 1,000 hectares, featuring an expansive 300-hectare sea of cryptomeria trees. From the mountaintop, you can enjoy panoramic views of surrounding peaks as well as sights of Taoyuan, Sanxia, and the Tamsui River, making it also a great spot to admire Taoyuan’s night scenery.

3.Aor Forest Classroom
Aor Forest Classroom is located within Hu Tou Shan Park, known as the “back garden of Taoyuan.” To preserve the park’s landscape and trees, wooden elevated walkways have been built among the woods. Leveraging the climbing nature of banyan trees, the project created three living treehouses that coexist with the trees, filled with owls of various sizes, thus forming what is called Aor Forest Classroom.

4.Kangzhuang Lotus Garden
Kangzhuang Lotus Garden opens its giant lotus pads for visitors to ride on every year from July to September. For just NT$50, you can take photos that look like you’re walking on water. There are also artistic installations such as flower swings, creating a fairytale-like atmosphere.
